Sarah Loos
| Principal Oboist
Sarah Loos was born in Moscow, Russia. She was then adopted and raised in Southern Illinois. Sarah attended Pinckneyville Community High School and concluded her high school career at The Interlochen Arts Academy.
She spent the summers attending the Advanced Oboe Institute and Hidden Valley Music Masterclasses in Interlochen, Michigan and Carmel-Monterey, California where she studied and performed with members of the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Opera.
Sarah studied at The Chicago College of Performing Arts and The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Oboe Performance. She attended The Mannes School of Music, in addition to weekly classes at The Juilliard School, where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Oboe, English horn Performance and Orchestral Studies.
While in New York City, she played in approximately 20 different symphony orchestras and chamber music groups throughout the city. She also performed with various other orchestras in New Jersey and performed in many venues including Carnegie Hall, Broadway, and the Lincoln Center.
Upon concluding her studies, Sarah moved to Los Angeles, California 2 years later and currently performs in multiple orchestras in both Los Angeles and New York City.
When COVID-19 made music an unviable option, she worked through the pandemic as a professional animal trainer specializing in wild mustangs, rehabilitating and retraining retired racehorses, outdoor parrot free flight, and behavior modification in dogs. Once COVID restrictions lifted, she was able to resume performing music.
In addition to playing in various orchestras, she has further embellished her diverse career by giving private horseback riding tours in Malibu and taking commissions for custom sewing projects along with photo realistic drawings and oil paintings.
